Life has been quite interesting here lately, but all of it pretty darn good. I almost came up with a cheese title like "Sunny Days Sweeping the Clouds Away," but not only am I not cheesy enough to have a line from the Sesame Street theme as my title, but there haven't been any clouds. Things have been pretty darn good...except for that darn seatbelt.
A week ago Mom and I took off to see Alexis' graduation from preschool. I had a cherry limeade in my hands, and just as I went to set it in the cupholder, the lid shot off and the cherry-limey goodness sprayed all over the driver's seat of my car, including the mechanism in which you snap your seatbelt. I didn't think anything of it until Monday, when I went to climb out of my car at work and found myself stuck. The sugary awesomess that is a cherry limeade had dried, causing my seatbelt to stick inside the mechanism.
I kept trying to unleash the seatbelt, but it wouldn't fully snap out. I could just see it. "Amy, I'm sure you're wondering why I'm still sat in my car, though I've been here for 35 minutes already. See, I'm stuck, and nothing I'm doing is working."
I debated grabbing that little utlity knife/screwdriver/plier/other thingy from my glove box so that I could saw myself free, but I love my car way too much for forsake the seatbelt in such a violent manner.
Nope, I just kept clicking.
Finally, after about five minutes, I finally managed to free myself from the car, but the problem has persisted. Fortunately, it finally seems to be getting better. I only have to click it about one or two times before I'm freed.
Thank goodness, otherwise I'd probably still be in my car trying to free myself and begging my friends to bring me food, water and empty the pee cup I'd most assuredly have. Ew, I know, but I mean it, I really love my car.
Another oddity came in the form of last night's dream. Now, those of you who know me well, know I'm the furthest thing from a fan of American Idol. I think it's a popularity contest, and while I think it has produced some good musicians, I think it also has produced just as many people who really don't need their 15 minutes of fame broadcast around the globe (William Hung, anyone?). Well, all the excitement around David Cook (especially the drama with him being a local boy who has made it big), caused me to dream he was my boyfriend. I admit, he's VERY easy on the eyes, but I couldn't even tell you what his voice sounds like, let alone what he's like in person. So why am I dreaming that he's an awesome boyfriend and an even better kisser???
Besides the bizarreness that is my seatbelt and my dreams, I've had some pretty good things happen. They say good things always happen in threes, and in the past 24 hours, I've had three pretty awesome things happen.
1. Yesterday, at about 4 o'clock, my cell phone rang. I didn't recognize the number, but I decided to go ahead an answer instead of sending it straight to voicemail. Good thing I did. It was the student life office at a local university calling to see if I was still interested in the position I had applied for. Heck yeah! (Don't get me wrong, I love my job and my office, but I'm not doing what I truly love doing. I really want to get back into residence/student life. It makes me all gooey inside.) So, we scheduled my phone interview for 11 a.m. today.
The interview went fantastic. They only asked seven questions, but I think I did a really good job of succinctly answering the questions and showing them how passionate I am about student development. At the end of the call, they said they'd be in touch soon.
Awesome.
2. A 2 o'clock today, my boss Amy comes out to announce that we were closing at 3 p.m. Hurray!!!! I get to beat rush-hour traffic and head home an hour early. Trust me, while I've got three days of excitement ahead of me and I will most likely be insane and ready for work at about 8:59 a.m. on Monday, it's awesome to get to leave work early.
Hurray!
3. Not long after the awesome news of the office closing came across, I got another awesome phone call. Again it was the student life office calling to see if I'd like to come to campus on Thursday. Can I get a heck yeah? So, Thursday at 1 p.m., I'll travel to southern Kansas City where I will interview for an awesome housing job. Cross your fingers y'all!
I'm telling you, life is awesome. I'd like to thank my Mom, God and everyone who helped make me into the person I am today. Y'all rock!
